Nvidia and OpenAI have unveiled a historic partnership on September 22, with Nvidia committing up to $100 billion to support OpenAI's development of 10-gigawatt AI data centers. These facilities will be equipped with 4-5 million GPUs, equivalent to Nvidia's total 2025 shipment volume.

The collaboration will follow a phased investment approach, with the first 1-gigawatt data center scheduled to launch in late 2026 using Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang described the partnership as "a leap into the next intelligent era," while OpenAI President highlighted how this computing power would democratize AI technology.

This record-breaking tech industry investment propelled Nvidia's stock price up over 4%, pushing its market capitalization toward $4.5 trillion. Analysts note the partnership creates a "virtuous cycle" that solidifies Nvidia's central role in the AI supply chain.

The initiative will complement existing collaborations with Microsoft, Oracle, and SoftBank on the "Stargate" project, collectively advancing global AI infrastructure to new levels.
