Samsung Electronics is increasingly expanding its presence in the automotive chip market through active collaborations with multiple automotive semiconductor manufacturers. The company has partnered with industry leaders such as Infineon and NXP to jointly develop next-generation automotive semiconductor solutions, aiming to meet the growing demand for high-performance computing chips in future smart vehicles. As autonomous driving technology advances rapidly, the computational requirements for in-vehicle chips are surging dramatically. Leveraging its strengths in memory chips and processor technologies, Samsung is progressively introducing advanced process technologies originally developed for mobile devices into the automotive manufacturing sector.

Key focuses of these collaborations include: developing 5nm-based automotive-grade processors, optimizing memory-processor co-design, enhancing chip stability under extreme temperatures, and improving real-time processing capabilities and security. Notably, these newly developed chips will incorporate cutting-edge neural processing units (NPUs) to execute autonomous driving algorithms more efficiently. Additionally, Samsung is actively developing more highly integrated System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions, consolidating multiple functions into single chips to save space and reduce power consumption.

Market analysts indicate that through close partnerships, Samsung is positioned to capture a larger share in the automotive electronics market. With the growing adoption of electric and smart connected vehicles, the automotive chip market is projected to achieve over 15% annual growth in the next five years. By collaborating with automotive chip specialists, Samsung can provide automakers with more comprehensive electronic service solutions.
