According to the latest 2024 global semiconductor revenue rankings released by market research firm Omdia, the semiconductor industry is undergoing a major transformation unseen in a decade. Nvidia has risen to the top with an annual revenue of 130.5 billion US dollars, surpassing Samsung Electronics for the first time to become the world's largest chipmaker. Meanwhile, traditional power semiconductor giants Infineon and STMicroelectronics have fallen out of the top ten due to weak demand in the industrial and automotive markets, with revenues of 4.09 billion US dollars and 2.517 billion US dollars respectively. This change reflects the structural transformation of the industry: the explosive demand for AI chips and the recovery of the memory market have become the core driving forces, while traditional fields such as consumer electronics and automotive electronics continue to face pressure. Omdia data shows that the global chip market size will grow by 25% year-on-year to 683 billion US dollars in 2024, with AI-related chips (including HBM) contributing 74% of the increase.
