According to Reuters, sources familiar with the matter revealed that U.S. memory chipmaker Micron Technology has informed its American customers of plans to impose a "surcharge" on certain products starting Wednesday (April 9th) in response to new tariffs introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Micron Technology’s overseas manufacturing bases are primarily located in Asia, including mainland China, Taiwan (China), Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Sources indicate that Micron has notified U.S. clients of the additional surcharge, which aims to offset costs linked to the newly implemented U.S. tariff policies. Earlier, the company had also informed customers of price increases for its products due to "unforeseen high demand."
